Earlier today when the Vice Chancellor was giving his speech, he dropped the phrase 'Tabula Rasa'...and then proceeded to quote lyrics from a Coldplay song because he said he wanted to keep it modern and fresh (bless!). Before today I only knew that phrase from a Buffy episode and I never bothered to research what it meant. However, at my graduation today when he defined it in his speech I found it very enlightening. Tabula Rasa means 'blank slate' and right then and there it hit me- I have officially graduated from school and into the real world, where my slate has been wiped clean for new beginnings as a proper grown-up. Scary. Needless to say, it was a very fitting speech for a house full of adult tweens, still a little wet behind the ears, as it gave us some sort comfort in the fact that we are now venturing into the unknown. The world really is my oyster now, what with the exclusion of academic constrictions, I can do whatever I want. Now the question is...do I want lemon or tabasco with my oyster?
I hope you enjoyed this little photo blog! It was great fun today, and considering I graduated on a Friday the 13th? Not tripping was already a major win. Leeds will forever remain in my heart (yes, that's about as cheesy as a ripe slice of Brie).
Lots of love,
