Burt's Bees Cleansers

Hello dear readers!

Apologies for the lack of posts recently. I really should work on making these posts more regular. However, a major silver lining would be that I actually get the time to try the products out for a good while before making a judgement on them! Which, I suppose is really the point of beauty blogging, especially when it comes to skincare. You need the time to see results! Needless to say, I have a couple of exciting to new find that I would very much like to share with y'all!

A few weeks back, I found some free time to visit a friend in Norwich. It's not hard to find these pockets of time right now because I only work part time, but I foresee less of these breaks in the upcoming Christmas quarter. If you work in retail, let's all hold our hands and breaths because Hell is coming. Anyway, one of the highlights of my trip was a chance to pop in to Jarrolds. If you haven't been to Norwich centre before, make sure to make a pit stop there as it is such a lovely department store. Very old-world, but with an AMAH-ZING beauty hall! For me, it is the nearest store that stock most of the brands I have grown to love, so I made sure to top up on my Caudalie and Darphin. I also got REN's Glycolactic Mask, which I could have gotten in Peterborough but since I was there, it would have been stupid to not buy it. It was literally siren calling at me. So got that. What piqued my interest the most however, were these two cleansers from Burt's Bees.

Burt's Bees is a household name, known for its natural and environmentally conscious range of skincare products. At some point in your life you must have used their famous lip balm, but there's so much more to them! I have been aware that Burt's Bees had a facial skincare range only in the last year or so but I never got around to trying them. Mainly because of the lack of stock in the stores around the Borough. Jarrolds on the other hand stocked more or less the WHOLE skincare range so I pounced on the opportunity. I didn't go crazy, but since Cleansers are my priority right now (because of the great Caroline Hirons, I have made the move from facial wash/soap/foam to cream/gel/botanical oil cleansers), I decided to try a couple of them out.

BURT'S BEES SOAP BARK & CHAMOMILE DEEP CLEANSING CREAM, £10.99 170g
Burt's Bees Soap Bark Deep Cleansing Cream

STAR INGREDIENTS: Soap Bark (Quillaja saponaria) derived from the Chilean tree and Witch Hazel for deep cleansing; Echinacea and Chamomile to soothe the skin; Glycerin and Cocoa Butter to keep the skin moisturised. The brand has deemed the product 98.9% natural.
THOUGHTS: I thought this cleanser was WONDERFUL, and I cannot stress that enough! The fact that the main ingredient is a natural soaping agent did make me a little apprehensive, but this luxe cream cleanser actually did not foam as much as I had expected. In fact, it stayed in a creamy lather more akin to a thick cleansing balm consistency. It leaves a wonderful zingy feel to the skin afterwards too, definitely leaving a sense that it had cleansed your skin and pores thoroughly. I use this as my second cleanse, but I have tried it as my first make-up-removing cleanser too and I must say, it does take it off. Not so much with mascara, but I tend to really wear a lot of mascara. I prefer it as the follow up to my Clinique cleansing balm to remove any make-up residue and actually clean my skin. To rinse, I use a hot cloth to massage it off- leaving my skin nice and tingly but also soft with no feeling of tightening or thirst.
SKIN TYPE: I would say ALL. For sensitive skin, I'd watch out for the alcohol content (it comes fifth in the list of ingredients..) but apart from that, I don't see why you can't try it?

BURT'S BEES ORANGE ESSENCE FACIAL CLEANSER, £10.99 120g
Burts Bees Orange Cleanser

STAR INGREDIENTS: Sweet Orange Oil known to help stimulate circulation and even aid in easing puffy tired looking skin. Orange Peel Oil is also a natural exfoliant; Soap Bark for cleansing; Glycerin and Aloe to soothe and soften the skin. The brand deems this product 100% natural.
THOUGHTS: This cleanser has become my morning favourite. It smells AMAZING, good enough to eat even and in those early hours of grogginess, the citrus aroma is enough to wake you up with a zing! Like Orange Marmalade. It has a gel/balm consistency that's very similar to Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream but as soon as it goes on the skin it turns into an oil, almost as if it melts to body temperature. The Orange oil actually warms up as you massage it on the skin and get a feeling that your pores are opening for a facial steam cleaning. The oil then turns into a milk when rinsed with water so there is no greasy residue left. Again, I use a hot flannel to massage the cleanser off and it leaves the skin soft and moisturised and most of all, ZESTY. I haven't tried using this cleanser to take make-up off yet but I think I may stick to using it in the mornings. 120g in a skinny tube may not look that much but it's quite an economical size because you don't need to use much, especially in the morning.
SKIN TYPE: I'd say All types. It's gentle and moisturising. No alcohol either so those with sensitive skin should be okay.

I am looking forward to trying more from their skincare range, but for now I am very pleased with these two products.

Have you tried any of Burt's Bees skincare products? if you have, sound off below!
