The family and I are off to Zurich tomorrow to celebrate the festivities avec ma soeur. Normally, we host an annual Christmas Eve dinner celebration chez La Casa de Ventura but this year, there would be not one single soul celebrating the holiday at home, so at the behest of a couple of my aunts and uncles, we decided to host the get together three days prior. Not to mention that the fĂȘte was imperative for my late grandparents- Evelina and Innocencio's birthdays on the 22nd and the 23rd, respectively. It was small and intimate, not as big and crazy as usual, so it was nice and cozy. Served a beautiful piece of gammon ham and made my go-to Black Forrest Pavlova. I'm still full from all the food! Ahh the holiday that keep on giving! In any case, I think I miss my grandparents the most at this time of the year. Back home, we would often get together a few days early to celebrate their birthdays in succession and the final big shebang being Christmas Eve itself. Nine children, twenty-two grandchildren (the last time we were all together before I moved to England) and not a whole lot of space in one single house. God knows how Mr. and Mrs. Tamang handled all that stress but all we knew when we were growing up, is that it was the single most important time of the year. Can you blame me if I wanted to sulk a little?
Happy holidays everyone! Will post soon of my fabulous Christmas voyage to the Swiss Alps ^^
xoxo
