It was a pretty standard showing for Galliano at this week's Spring Haute Couture show, with his trademark 40's sillhouette, his current model muse Karlie Kloss opening the show, and the sheer drama of it all. That however, does not mean it was a show of complacency. In fact it was anything but. The dresses were bigger and even more dramatic and the colour palette was a classic confection of sweet and bold. Carrie Bradshaw would have climaxed in the front row was she given the chance. And of course who could resist John in a garb saluting Arsène Lupin? It is shows like Galliano's that give fashion its raison d'être. Whoever said couture is on its way out is clearly delusional.
