During a long weekend visit around Tasha's in Redhill, we decided to go for a Sunday drive. There was nothing to do and since the weather was holding up nicely, we decided to spend the afternoon at Polesden Lacey. At first I thought they kept saying Postlewaithe to which I continually replied, 'Is that a place? Isn't that like south of the border...near Plymouth?'. Geography is clearly not my strongest suit but upon Googling, I found out that it was an Edwardian manor house near Dorking, along the rolling hills of Redhill (Fun Fact: Tasha's great great...granny aunt or something played piano at the house. She was even in one of those creepy Edwardian group portraits! Lots of cankles and ribbons). It was a lovely place, and having the sun that day was divine..which may surprise some of you as I like dwelling in the grey. The light just made the whole place gleam. The trees were greener, the gilded interior shone like Versailles, and the grounds looked positively serene and well manicured (but then again, if it wasn't, the National Trust would not have been doing their job properly!) There were a lot of picnic goers and it was an ideal day for it. Also, lots of sheep. Anyway, enjoy the snaps!

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part One
In the penultimate installment of the Twilight Saga, we see the lives of Bella Swan and the Cullens take a turn, perhaps for the worse. Obviously if you've read the book, you know what this shit is about, but what the hell...let's talk about it. Is it just me or do they just get worse each time they release a sequel? I feel like the bigger the buzz has become, the crappier the performances have been. I never thought that it was possible for the Twilight triumvirate of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to worsen acting that was never good to begin with, but as it turned it, it was. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's break it down shall we?

Seraphine
The last time I nearly cried while watching a film was when I saw Toy Story 3. For me, that is like BIG. Like when my friend Tasha cries when watching Sophie Scholl. I didn't expect Séraphine to be THAT good too!
I saw that it was on telly tonight so I thought, since T got somebody the DVD for Christmas last year I may as well watch it. The name intrigued me, and tonight's showing certainly lived up to my curious expectations.

Aguilera VS The World (Repost)
After years of constant scrutiny, it seems haters are still aching to tear Christina Aguilera apart. There’s Kelly Osbourne poking fun at her recent weight gain, the fickle music industry who hung Aguilera to dry after Bionic was released, a gaggle of vacuous Little Monsters (enough said really), and the press who…well, peck at anything they can. It is true that with a decade of success and an undeniable golden talent, you’d think Christina would have had it easy, but no. Somehow the world still refuses to just open their eyes and admit that she is a one of a kind, legendary artiste.

Black Swan: The Review
I have just finished watching the Black Swan, and I'm trying really hard to figure out how to begin this review. There is so much I have to say about it that my mind is muddled up as to what I should praise first.
Ok, I think it's better if I start with the word that summed up the film for me.
Perfection.
If there is any superlatives to perfection, somebody better give me it because I am out of words. Darren Aronofsky is a genius and with this he composed a great cast of extremely gifted and accomplished actors. Natalie Portman was simple astounding in her performance as Nina Sayers, while Vincent Cassel's portrayal of the tormenting Thomas Leroy was eerily seductive. Mila Kunis was equally provocative with her guileful Lily and Barbara Hershey was everything a controlling mother should be. Winona Ryder was also irrefutable as the aged prima ballerina, scorned and abandoned for the young ingenue, reminding us that the short pause in her career never tarnished her talent.

How To Look Like A Million Bucks
That's how. This is probably my favourite chic ensemble by Audrey to date. Ahhh, the lace, the gloves, the diamonds! C'est parfait! I'm tuning in on Film4 as they're showing How To Steal A Million, and as always she never fails to take my breath away. Plus she makes a very beautiful couple with Peter O'Toole! SO handsome back in the day eh? In this film Hepburn employed her BFF Hubert de Givenchy once more for the wardrobe, which was heavily Parisian and mod. Outstanding. Now to find a Chantilly lace replica of this mask will be the death of me, but one day....oh yes...
xoxo
P.S. I'm surprised Blair hasn't referenced this movie in GG yet. Maybe soon?!

A+ for Emma Stone!
Emma Stone's latest film, Easy A, is hands down the best teen comedy since Tina Fey's Mean Girls and John Hughes. Now, I really should say that it is the best teen HIGH SCHOOL comedy, because teen is too big of a genre. There was Kick-Ass, and Scott Pilgrim which were also very good, but I'm talking about your run-of-the-mill High School teen-bitch fest so in that field Bert V. Royal emerges as this year's victor.

Burlesque: The Review
When I first heard that Christina was scheduled to do her first motion picture, I peed my pants. When I heard that it was a musical film, I hyperventilated in a paperbag. When I heard that she was starring alongside Cher, I died and gone to Jack McFarlan's heaven. It was just a genius pairing isn't it? Of course I threw a little hissy fit when I found out that it was due out in the UK mid-December, which meant that when it came out on Thanksgiving, I had a month to wait for it and it was exasperating. Fast forward to today, when I finally got to see Burlesque with my friend Jess, it felt as though my Christmas was complete. The snow did not put a damper on my mood. In fact, it more like overcoming nature's hurdle and when I did make it to the cinema, nothing could get me down. Nobody or nothing stands between me and Christina. Not even muddy slush.
